Information from "Nidaa al-Watan" indicated that the leader of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, sent a special message to French President Emmanuel Macron concerning the issue of illegal Syrian refugees. Geagea entrusted the message to French presidential envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian during their meeting in Maarab. The message stated, "As a friendly country to Lebanon, France must stand by it in existential and critical issues. Among these issues today is the presence of illegal Syrian refugees, which threatens the identity of the Lebanese people and the stability and security of Lebanon amidst its catastrophic conditions."
The message further expressed that "there is no country in the world where the number of refugees has become half of its population. This is something no country can accept, therefore Lebanon looks to France to stand by it in facing this issue." The message confirmed that Lebanon "is proceeding with implementing its measures in this regard."
