Minister of Public Works in the caretaker government, Ali Hemya, announced the completion of the paving works on the Beginning Road in Kfarshouba, thanks to the appreciated efforts of both donors and implementers. This road extends from the outskirts of the town to the Birtha'il pool up to zero distance, at what is called the withdrawal line on the border with Palestine.
Hemya pointed out in a statement that it is noteworthy that a decree to classify this road was issued by the Council of Ministers on August 1, 2023, which was considered at the time the first decree to officially confirm the presence of the Lebanese state in that liberated area, achieved through the earnest efforts of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to work towards its approval. The ministry did not remain idle amid the financial crisis faced by the Lebanese state; thus, our determination and decision were to knock on the doors of donors from associations, individuals, and others to secure the necessary funds to complete its paving in the shortest time possible.
He continued: "It is necessary to point out that the decree classifying the aforementioned Beginning Road also includes a complementary section leading towards the border with the occupied Palestine, which remains occupied by the Israeli enemy to this day. We consider its liberation and recovery a sovereign right for Lebanon, both as a state and as a people."
Hemya emphasized that "the classification of the Beginning Road by the Council of Ministers was just the beginning - as we announced on the day we started work on it, to commence the return of the official state to an area that the occupation has long dreamed of remaining absent from. Accordingly, the residents are invited from today to use it to reach their farms and to start a construction project along its sides as much as they can. Likewise, they are invited, along with the state, to continue working to make it an attractive road for investment on its heights and surrounding hills, as a confirmation from them and it - irrevocably - that the official and popular Lebanon stands united in its adherence to its rights to the last grain of its soil."
