A boat carrying migrants caught fire off the coast of Haiti, resulting in the deaths of 40 individuals. The International Organization for Migration announced that the fire ignited on the boat, which was carrying over 80 people, during its journey spanning 250 kilometers from Saint Michel in southern Haiti to the Turks and Caicos Islands. The organization noted that "the Haitian Coast Guard rescued 41 individuals, and 11 were transported to the hospital for treatment."
