The Economy Committee Discusses the "Beneficial" File

The Economy Committee Discusses the

The National Economy, Trade, Industry, and Planning Committee held a session today, Wednesday, in the parliamentary council, chaired by MP Fares Boustaney and attended by committee members. After the session, the committee chairman, MP Fares Boustaney, stated: "The economy committee met and discussed the economic impact of the beneficial on the economic situation. We were able to discuss only one item, and I thank my colleague, MP Saji’ Atieh, chairman of the Public Works Committee, and the head of the sub-committee, MP Ibrahim Mneimneh. Our oversight role is non-legislative to see how the caretaker government is acting. We want to solve the issue - the topic of the beneficial."

For his part, the chairman of the sub-committee tasked with discussing the beneficial issue, MP Mneimneh, said: "In the fact-finding committee, we follow what has been previously discussed. Our focus has been on the stages that the 'Ancret' company has reached, passing through the terms of reference, the bidding process, and the performance of the company. We will remain reserved, as we consider there is confidentiality, and we will publish a report about the committee after it is reviewed by the Public Works Committee. We know that some employees are under accountability. There are employees who do not attend work, and there is a shortage in the number of employees. Again and again, we see that there is a stagnation, and it appears, based on what we have seen, that there is a problem with employees and a problem with salaries. We agreed with the concerned parties that a vision has been set for this issue and we will begin to address it, as this matter is chronic and creates complications and must be resolved after the suffering of the Lebanese people."

Boustaney added: "Any fee or amount paid by the citizen will have a receipt proving that the money has entered the state treasury, or not, and we will discuss the real estate departments. This is a way to combat corruption."

MP Saji’ Atieh, the chairman of the Public Works Committee, clarified that "the issue is complicated, and since the administration has been in turmoil for a year and a half, Dr. Boustaney initiated and invited us because this sector cannot afford delays, and subjectivity remains. We requested to halt the fees imposed on the people, as they are illegal. Moreover, we should reinstate the less culpable employees, as the Civil Service Board's opinion does not allow for accountability before judgments are issued. They should be classified and supported by the Internal Security Forces or the Civil Defense. The most important point is the cancellation of the platform, and there are legal incentives given according to the rules, as we presented the matter of contracting with mechanics. We requested a comprehensive plan that includes a new mechanism and new technology that relieves the citizen, and we want a clear timeline, especially after it became clear that there is significant waste. As parliamentary committees, we cooperate with one another, and if there are no solutions, we will litigate against the management and waste of funds in such a sector."
