The Qatar National Library is organizing a variety of activities and events at its booth at the Doha International Book Fair, which is holding its thirty-third edition from May 9 to May 18 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center under the slogan "Civilizations are Built with Knowledge."
The library explained, in a statement today, that one of the events is the "Library Community," where visitors can experience an interactive social networking tree by taking photos and selecting a template they prefer from a variety of templates chosen from the heritage collection.
The Qatar National Library is also hosting the "Escape Room Challenge," during which visitors must solve a code of quotations selected by the library's information specialists, moving through rooms illuminated by glowing text until they reach the solution to the puzzle representing the national library's logo.
Additionally, the library's booth at the fair offers a "Virtual Reality" activity, where the audience can watch three unique video clips using virtual reality technology: a tour of the library, a journey with dinosaurs, and an exploratory trip into space, concluding each clip with a message linking it back to the library.
The booth will also feature an interactive digital table from the heritage library, taking visitors on an exciting historical journey through time, where they will learn about the fascinating and inspiring journey of the renowned Arab traveler Muhammad ibn Abdallah al-Tanjy, known as Ibn Battuta, documented in his book "The Gift of Eyewitnesses to the Wonders of Countries and the Wonders of Travels."
The table will provide an opportunity to explore treasures from the heritage library's collection, including images, books, manuscripts, documents, and rare maps that tell the stories of the ancient cities that Ibn Battuta visited, alongside a "Knowledge Challenge" activity, featuring thought-provoking questions to discover useful facts about the library's resources and services.
As part of its commitment to fostering a competitive atmosphere among attendees of the fair and visitors to the booth, the Qatar National Library will conduct a draw for a prize for participants who achieve the highest scores, with the winner being announced through a lottery at the end of the fair's events.
