Ihab Hamada: Dealing Wisely with the Syrian Displacement Issue

Member of the Baalbek-Hermel parliamentary bloc Ihab Hamada stated that "the presidential issue is the key to the regular functioning of institutions and the preservation of the state's dignity. We are confident that if we engage in an open dialogue, believing in Lebanon, we will reach the election of a president." During a political meeting, he pointed out that "some still hope for an Israeli victory and the crushing of the resistance, hoping to achieve a success regarding the presidential entitlements, but they are mistaken." He called again for responding to President Nabih Berri's invitation for a session of dialogue and understanding to resolve this issue in Lebanon, asserting that "those who think that the outside world can impose choices on the Lebanese are mistaken, and those who want to help us are welcome."

He added, "There is a candidate named Sleiman Frangieh, who we see as qualified and meets the necessary conditions and criteria. Let’s engage in dialogue to see what comes out of it. If you are relying on the other option, wait for the other, and we are here waiting with you." Regarding the crisis of displaced persons, he considered that "the issue requires a Lebanese-Lebanese dialogue, and a sincerity in expression because some who cry falsely and shed crocodile tears at a particular political moment are the ones who laid the groundwork and formed the political umbrella for this displacement, which was part of it, and much of it was orchestrated against the Syrians and the Lebanese."

He continued: "I primarily address our dear Christian community at the political level, to say that any conspiracy in this regard will cost you. Therefore, scrutinize some of your politicians to discover their lies and false tears, and look at their political speeches from 4 or 5 years ago. Some speak publicly one way but act with a different mentality because they do not dare to oppose their American and European masters."

Hamada concluded: "As a brotherly country, we always call for a wise approach to this issue, and for us to stand as one man regarding this wise and existential decision."
