The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, headed by Deputy Fadi Alama, met with the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, to discuss the situation in Lebanon and the region. France emphasized the need to "translate initiatives for solutions and their impact on Lebanon, and to strive to reduce tensions and prevent them from escalating into a comprehensive war." Magro outlined the developments regarding France's role in "supporting the parties in Lebanon to reach the election of a president," stressing his country's strategy "to formulate a political solution in Lebanon, provided there is serious engagement from the parties and interaction with it, and that work proceeds on electing a president without linking the issue to the ongoing events in Gaza."
He stated, "France calls for the establishment of a logical strategy to resolve the crisis of Syrian refugees on its territory," underscoring that his country "wants to assist in this matter, which it will work on in Brussels, with a necessity to achieve a political solution in Syria without Lebanon enduring the game of waiting." Magro confirmed "France's commitment to achieving a sustainable solution in Palestinian territories and the region, similar to the success achieved in the maritime border negotiations between Lebanon and Israel," noting that "there is an opportunity to establish the land border points between the two sides based on the 1949 armistice."
