Title: Containment of the Fire in the Aakkar Forests

Lebanese Civil Defense members were able, at 10 PM yesterday, with the support of a helicopter from the Lebanese Air Force and operational units from the Army, to control the fire that broke out in the Aakkar forests, which burned vast areas of grass and forest trees. The teams began extinguishing the fire at 3 PM on Saturday and faced several difficulties in their efforts to control the flames, the main one being the lack of access roads to the fire site. A water pool was established to enable the helicopter to refill and help in fighting the fire. The teams also prioritized cooling the fire perimeter to prevent its resurgence. Monitoring operations continued throughout the night by several members to prevent the fire from reigniting.
