The Coordinating Framework in Iraq is leading talks to host Hamas leaders in Baghdad, coinciding with reports about the possibility of closing the Hamas office in Qatar and the departure of the movement's leaders. According to the information, Iraqi-Iranian discussions are taking place with Hamas leadership in Doha to attract them to Baghdad and have them reside there. It was noted that the Iraqi initiative to attract Hamas leadership is supported by Iran, and this move is not related to Qatar's position, whether it wants Hamas to leave or not.
It was also mentioned that there are triple meetings and discussions between the Iraqi Islamic Party, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood in Iraq, the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, and also Shia political forces in Iraq. The purpose of these triple meetings is to form an Iraqi-Jordanian front against Israel. Additionally, it was highlighted that an important third point is that the al-Nujaba Movement within the Iraqi Islamic Resistance called for the establishment of what is referred to as the military wing within the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood.
The information further outlined four objectives for Iraq from this step: firstly, that Iraq openly declares itself as part of the resistance axis supported by Iran in the region; secondly, to send a message of defiance to the United States, which, according to the Iraqi perspective, has pressured the Qatari government to restrict or expel Hamas leadership from Doha; thirdly, to convey a strong message to regional parties opposing Hamas, such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia; and fourthly, to point out that Iraq has good relationships with the Palestinian Authority and very strong ties with Hamas, thus enabling Iraq to potentially play a role in what is termed by Maliki's party as achieving Palestinian national unity in the future.
