Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he agreed to an operation by the Israeli army to rescue four hostages from Hamas in the Nusseirat camp due to two main factors. During the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting, he said, "On Thursday evening, when I finally approved this complex and dangerous operation, two primary considerations stood before me: First, our commitment to bring all captives home. Second, the knowledge that you can trust our fighters, who are unmatched in the world."
He added, "Yesterday's significant achievement elevated the status of the people, and I must say: it elevated the status of Israel's supporters around the world. However, it also entailed great pain: the fall of Israel's hero, the international movement fighter, the late leader Arnon Zamora." Netanyahu commented on the possibility of Benny Gantz resigning from the government after the deadline he set regarding the Gaza war, stating, "It is time to stop the trivial politics." He said, "In the midst of war, Gantz wants to resign from the government!... It is time to stop the trivial politics."
