Al-Ahed Advances to the AFC Cup Semifinals

The Lebanese football team "Al-Ahed" has qualified for the semifinals of the AFC Cup, Western Zone final, after defeating their Iraqi hosts Al-Kahraba 4-2 on penalties. The match concluded in regular and extra time with the Lebanese team leading 1-0. The regular time score was 1-0 (first half 0-0) in the return match held today at the "Basra Sports City" stadium in Basra.

Scottish forward Lee Erwin scored the leading goal for Al-Ahed. Last week, Al-Ahed lost the first leg 0-1 against their opponent at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Oman, which was considered a home game for the Lebanese team. Al-Ahed previously won the tournament in 2019, marking the first time in Lebanese football history.
