Artist Majida El Roumi has released her new work titled "Beirut," which includes a message from the Lebanese people to the Arab nations on the third anniversary of the Beirut port explosion on August 4. In her new work, El Roumi expresses her anger, sadness, pain, and hope for Beirut to regain its status as a capital of joy and life, restoring Lebanon to its former glory as the Switzerland of the East. "Beirut" is a song that describes the current reality of Beirut, written by the great poet Nizar Qabbani 40 years ago and composed by Lebanese musician Yahya Hassan. El Roumi has brought it to life today with a unique vision from Lebanese director Charbel Youssef, who was chosen to present her song "Beirut" with a distinctive concept and fitting direction, following 17 years since her last production.
Youssef successfully drew a comparison between Beirut yesterday and today, and the song serves as a call for the Lebanese people to persevere and for the Arab people to stand by Lebanon and support it in reclaiming its unique role and presence in the region. "Beirut" was filmed with high-end technologies in Lebanon and Egypt at the Arab League, executed by a very large production team with enormous efforts. El Roumi succeeded in utilizing her beautiful voice, elegant presence, and distinctive performance to present this national work, which elevates it to the status of global productions.
