Hashim: Berri's Dialog Initiative is Ongoing and Waiting for External Help Will Not Yield Quick Results

Member of the "Development and Liberation" bloc, MP Qassem Hashim, stated that "the results of the recent quintet committee have confirmed that we are still in a state of stagnation regarding external efforts," adding in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon": "Waiting for external help will not achieve quick results because the crisis is our crisis and the responsibility is ours." Regarding the rumors about the end of the French role and the start of Qatar's mediation to resolve the presidential impasse, Hashim said: "No progress has been recorded yet from one envoy to another while waiting for the outcome of French efforts," noting "the return of French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian, which he promised during his last visit," considering that "a few days separate us from knowing how matters will unfold." Regarding the fate of the Speaker of Parliament's invitation in light of some blocs' rejection, Hashim confirmed that "Berri's dialog initiative is still ongoing and communications are underway to crystallize final positions to reach a final vision on its potential success, so that President Berri can formulate a position that serves the national interest and pushes towards completing the presidential elections."
