The Lebanese Army announced that its commander, General Rudolf Heikal, visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on August 30 and 31, 2026, where he met King Abdullah II at the Royal Hashemite Palace, in the presence of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, along with several officials.
During the meeting, King Abdullah II emphasized Jordan's support for Lebanon, endorsing its efforts to maintain security and sovereignty amid its security and military challenges.
Furthermore, the Jordanian King expressed full support for the international conference dedicated to assisting the Lebanese Armed Forces, set to be held in Paris on September 17, 2026. The conference aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Lebanese Army and strengthen its ability to undertake national responsibilities.
General Heikal also visited the headquarters of the Jordanian Armed Forces, where he was received by Major General Al-Hunaiti and accorded an official reception.
The two sides held a meeting attended by several officers, during which they discussed the key developments and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Lebanese and Jordanian armies, while stressing the importance of supporting the Lebanese military in the face of its current challenges.
Heikal expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Hashemite Kingdom for its ongoing initiatives aimed at bolstering the capabilities of the Lebanese Army, as part of its national role in safeguarding Lebanon and maintaining its security and sovereignty.
General Heikal's visit to Jordan comes weeks before the Paris conference, on which Lebanon is relying to secure international support that will contribute to enhancing the operational and logistical capacities of the military institution, enabling it to carry out its duties across various Lebanese regions.
