The Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division has announced that a contractor will commence work on removing old asphalt layers and paving several streets in Beirut, leading to road closures and traffic diversions.

From 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the entrance to Barbir Bridge for traffic coming from Corniche Mazraa (Boulevard Saeb Salam) will be closed. Traffic will be redirected towards the museum, and exits leading to the same route on the bridge will be closed.
Wednesday, September 2, 2026
Traffic coming from the museum towards Corniche Mazraa will be diverted at the Barbir tunnel exit, by opening the middle island and using the southern route for two-way traffic, up to the intersection of Burj Abu Haidar - Al-Rifai.
Thursday, September 3, 2026
Traffic from the Burj Abu Haidar - Al-Rifai intersection towards Barbir will be prohibited, utilizing the northern route for two-way traffic. Traffic will return to its normal course towards Barbir through the newly created opening in front of the Barbir tunnel entrance.
Subsequent paving dates:
• Barbir Bridge: September 13, 2026
• Route towards Corniche Mazraa: September 19, 2026
