Body in the Bank Sparks Controversy in Brazil

In an unbelievable incident in Brazil, a woman on Tuesday brought her deceased uncle's body to the bank in an attempt to secure a loan of 17,000 Brazilian reais, equivalent to 3,215 US dollars. The woman was holding the head of the deceased man in front of bank employees, who sensed that something was amiss. One of them remarked, "I don't think this is legal. He doesn't seem well. He's very pale." To which she replied, "That's how he is," and then addressed the corpse, saying, "If you’re not well, I can take you to the hospital. Do you want to go back to the hospital again?" as reported by the British newspaper "Daily Mail."

The woman wanted a loan of 17,000 Brazilian reais (12,000 Saudi riyals) and reportedly handed the dead man a pen, telling him not to give her a headache and to sign here. Employees noticed the peculiar situation and alerted the police, who arrived and arrested her.

The staff filmed the woman, which went viral on social media, as she asked her deceased uncle to sign the loan documents. She added, "Uncle, can you hear me? You need to sign. I can’t sign for you."

Emergency services and the police quickly arrived at the bank in Rio de Janeiro. Paramedics confirmed that the 68-year-old man had died just a few hours before being taken to the bank. The woman was apprehended and told the police that she was his niece and had been caring for him. The results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death have not yet been announced. Meanwhile, law enforcement is investigating whether there are other individuals involved in this incident amid suspicions of an organized fraud scheme.
