Iraq: 5 Drug Dealers Arrested by Security Forces

The General Directorate of Intelligence and Security of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced today, Tuesday, the arrest of 5 drug dealers, including foreign nationals, in the provinces of Najaf and Al-Muthanna.

A statement from the directorate noted that "the intelligence and security detachments in Najaf arrested 3 drug dealers and traffickers of foreign nationalities based on intelligence information. They were found in possession of crystal meth, narcotic substances, and Captagon pills while staying in a hotel in the province."

It was mentioned that "the statements of the accused were recorded preliminarily and judicially, and they were detained under the provisions of Article 28 of the Narcotics Law."

Additionally, "the intelligence and security detachments in Al-Muthanna successfully apprehended two drug dealers and traffickers caught in the act, who were found with a quantity of crystal meth they intended to sell. The materials were confiscated, and the suspects were referred to the competent authorities."
