Regarding the investigation into the fire incident at the "Pizza Secret" restaurant on Bashoura Khoury Street, it has been reported that the gas company responsible for supplying gas cylinders to the restaurant presented a $5 million insurance contract to the public prosecutor in Beirut, Judge Zahr Hamada. Similarly, the restaurant owner has shown a comparable insurance contract. It is noted that both individuals are still in custody based on Judge Hamada's order.
The investigation revealed that while a gas cylinder was being installed in the restaurant's kitchen, a gas leak occurred, quickly spreading to the cooking area, resulting in an explosion. This led to the deaths of nine individuals, including two workers from the gas company and seven kitchen staff who had escaped the flames into a basement room where they succumbed to smoke inhalation, among them three Syrians and one Egyptian.
Judge Hamada has summoned four employees from the Beirut municipality to hear their testimonies, including the person responsible for oversight, to clarify how two restaurants in Beirut were allowed to open without acquiring the necessary licenses, including the establishment where the incident occurred.
