A torn copy of the Holy Quran was found in the bathrooms of a large store in Israel owned by a well-known businessman. According to a report by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority "Makan," employees of the "Shabaket Hwanit" in the city of Haifa discovered the torn Quran, with one worker, whose identity was concealed, stating that he had found torn pages of the Quran discarded either in the trash or in the bathrooms on more than one occasion. The worker told "Makan" that he approached the branch manager to inform him about what he had found and the repeated incidents, noting that he and several other workers "threatened to go on strike until the perpetrator is revealed." However, after several days, the branch manager told them that "there is nothing he can do," which led them to approach the branch's security manager who also did nothing, prompting them to go to the media.
For his part, the branch manager, Shimon Malka, stated that "an investigation has been conducted to find out what happened... but there are no cameras in the bathrooms to maintain privacy, and we tried to inquire and verify exactly what took place." He emphasized that everyone "in the store lives in a very special harmony, as many Christians, Muslims, and Jews come here," expressing his "regret" over the incident.
