Saudi Health Ministry Warns Pilgrims of Sun Exposure Risks

The Saudi Ministry of Health has warned pilgrims about the dangers of high surface temperatures in the holy sites, which can reach up to 72 degrees Celsius in some mountainous areas. In a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) today, Thursday, the ministry alerted pilgrims that prolonged exposure to sunlight poses a significant risk to their health, noting that this year's Hajj season coincides with rising temperatures in Mecca, highlighting one of the biggest challenges faced by pilgrims. The ministry urged pilgrims to use umbrellas regularly to avoid direct sun exposure, drink sufficient quantities of water throughout the day even if they do not feel thirsty, adhere to all health instructions and advice, and avoid going out in the sun or walking on surfaces or touching them during peak hours.
