Officials: Ceasefire with Hamas Facilitates Agreement with Hezbollah

The "New York Times" reported that officials indicated that "senior Israeli generals want to initiate a ceasefire in Gaza even if it means allowing Hamas to remain," noting that "the generals believe that the ceasefire would be the best way to free 120 Israelis still being held." It was stated, according to officials, that "Israeli generals believe their forces need time to recover in the event of ground warfare against Hezbollah," explaining that "a ceasefire with Hamas may also facilitate reaching an agreement with Hezbollah, as relocating some of our forces to the north is essential for the army's recovery if a broader war with Hezbollah erupts."
