The artist Yousra was a guest on the program "Big Time Podcast" hosted by Amr Adib and Assala. She talked about various stages in her artistic and personal life, noting that she is satisfied with what she has achieved, but said, "When you feel that there is no appreciation for your efforts, it saddens you." Yousra revealed the reason for her recent discomfort with the industry (video).
She shared a peculiar love story from her life, saying, "One person used to send me letters written in his blood. He would hurt himself to write these letters; he was crazy. He went to Al-Khanka, and I visited him at the mental health hospital where he died."
Yousra reminisced about her memories with the legendary Adel Imam, stating that she could speak about his impact for the rest of her life without fully capturing it. She described him as a person with great loyalty to his friends, something that not everyone knows about him.
She recounted an emotional moment with Adel Imam when she faced a financial crisis early in her career and considered selling her car. Adel Imam learned of her situation, surprised her by visiting, and asked why she was selling her car. He then offered her a role in a project and asked for whatever salary she wanted.
Yousra shared several other incidents with Adel Imam, including a horrifying accident she experienced where, despite being committed to a theatrical performance at that time, he showed up at the accident site to support her. She noted that Adel Imam remained concerned until the very end for his late friend Saeed Saleh and highlighted that he has a quick and accurate assessment of the people he interacts with.
Yousra stated that she does not see him as just a mentor in art but as a great father figure and a loyal friend, among many other admirable traits.
In her statements, Yousra revealed several new secrets about her personality, primarily her fear of her dreams. She mentioned that she remembers all her dreams and feels anxious about them because some come true. She recounted a frightening incident where she dreamed of a close friend attending a court session and asked her to be there, only to discover that he had drowned at the same time she had the dream, leading her to worry about her dreams.
Yousra spoke about her current feelings of discomfort, acknowledging that she has indeed felt this way recently, as she puts a great deal of effort into her works, sometimes having to pull away when she feels unappreciated. She revealed that her last film, "Eid Night," which she believed was very important, had its release delayed for two years. Yousra chose to present comedy in her latest work, "Thank God for Your Safety," as she wanted to take on this challenge, especially since she does not consider herself a comedian. She enlisted many comedy stars in the series and expressed her pride in this experience and her ability to present this genre now.
