Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel stated ahead of the match against Bochum in the German Bundesliga on Sunday that striker Harry Kane is unhappy "with what he is doing" in recent matches, but the German champions rely on him to correct his path this season. Bayern lost domestically (3-0) at Bayer Leverkusen earlier last week and were defeated (1-0) by Lazio in the first leg of the Round of 16 in the Champions League last Wednesday. Kane, who has scored 28 goals for his team in 29 matches across all competitions this season, did not find the net in either defeat, and Coach Tuchel mentioned that the communication between Kane and his teammates seems to be lacking.
Tuchel told reporters: "Harry... knows well what he is doing. And of course, he is not happy with the way he is performing in matches right now. We are not satisfied with what he is doing or not doing in the games." The veteran coach added, "I have very rarely, if ever, seen such a disparity in performance between training and matches... His scoring style, his leadership ability, and his team’s style of winning are unbelievable. This is certainly world-class. And then how do we find him in matches?... But he is the one acting like the team leader? That is why everything is all right for Harry. He can handle the situation easily."
Bayern Munich, the German league champions for the last 11 seasons, trails league leaders Leverkusen by eight points but has played one match less. The Bavarian club will face Lazio in the second leg of the Round of 16 in the Champions League on March 5.
