The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the death of the crew of a Su-34 aircraft that crashed in the mountains of the North Ossetia Republic during a training flight due to a technical failure. In a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry, reported by "Russia Today," it was stated: "A Su-34 aircraft belonging to the Russian space forces crashed in the mountains of North Ossetia during a scheduled training flight, resulting in the death of its crew." It added: "The aircraft crashed in a deserted area, and there was no damage to any objects on the ground." It confirmed that "a commission from the Russian space forces has been dispatched to the crash site."
