Barcelona officially announced today, Wednesday, the joining of their former player Thiago Alcantara to the coaching staff of the new German coach, Hans Flick. Thiago previously trained under Flick at Bayern Munich, and they share a good personal relationship. Alcantara will be part of Flick's team during the summer preparations for the new season, scheduled to take place in the United States, according to the official Barcelona website. Thiago (33 years old) had left Barcelona in the summer of 2013 for Bayern Munich and then moved to Liverpool two seasons ago. Barcelona's efforts to bring back Alcantara have been unsuccessful, despite multiple attempts by the Catalan club. Alcantara announced his retirement from football this summer after his contract with Liverpool ended and due to Liverpool's reluctance to renew it because of his recurring injuries.
