Apple has announced that it will temporarily halt sales of two of its latest Apple Watch models in the United States due to a dispute over intellectual property related to the "blood oxygen" feature. The unexpected decision comes in response to two orders issued by the U.S. International Trade Commission on October 26, which could restrict Apple’s ability to sell products using the "blood oxygen" feature following an intellectual property conflict between Apple and the medical technology company Masimo. Customers in the United States will not see any changes in their ability to purchase either watch until next Thursday. Sales of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 will cease online on Thursday at 3 PM, and in stores after Sunday. The White House had 60 days to review the restrictions, as per the International Trade Commission’s policy, or until December 25, but Apple stated it is beginning the temporary halt early to ensure compliance with the order if the International Trade Commission's ruling remains in place. CNBC noted that individuals who have already purchased either of the disputed Apple watches will not face any issues with their products, according to Apple, and there is no change in the availability of either model outside the United States.
