A woman was found dead inside the belly of a snake that swallowed her in central Indonesia, local officials reported on Saturday. The husband of Farida (45 years old) and residents of Kalimampang village in South Sulawesi discovered her inside a snake approximately five meters long. Village leader Suwardi Rossi stated that Farida, a mother of four, disappeared on Thursday evening, prompting a search for her. He explained that villagers searched the area and quickly spotted "a snake with a large belly." They decided to cut it open, revealing Farida's head. The woman was fully clothed.
A significant number of people in Indonesia have died in recent years after being swallowed by snakes. Last year, residents of the Tinanggea region in Southeast Sulawesi killed an eight-meter-long snake that strangled and ate a farmer. In 2018, a 54-year-old woman was found dead inside a seven-meter-long snake in the town of Muna, Southeast Sulawesi. In 2017, a four-meter-long snake devoured a farmer in West Sulawesi on a palm oil plantation.
