The new British government announced today, Friday, that it will "resume funding for the UNRWA." British Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated in Parliament that he is "assured that the agency has taken steps to ensure its commitment to the highest standards of neutrality." He added, "I can confirm to Parliament that we will lift the suspension of funding for UNRWA, and Britain will provide £21 million to the agency." Britain was one of several countries that halted its funding for UNRWA following allegations from Israel that some of the agency's staff were involved in the Hamas attacks against it in October, which ignited the Gaza war.
