The "Mori Uchi" cafe, located in a quiet suburb of Tokyo, Japan, is known for serving food and beverages "only for pessimists and customers with a negative mindset," as reported by "Sora News 24." According to the cafe's owner, who shares the same name, he believes that "it's not a flaw to have negative thoughts," describing himself as "a gloomy person." Uchi explained that the idea of establishing this cafe came to him about a decade ago, but he only decided to open it three years ago, during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying, "Negative people are more sensitive and can be hurt more easily than others, so I created this exclusive space for them."
He continued: "People always say that being positive is good and being negative is bad, but I don't think negative thinking is harmful." He emphasized that "many negative people tend to be reserved in their behavior, which is a form of kindness, and I thought it would be nice to have a place for them to relax."
The cafe features cheerful rustic decor and has private rooms where customers can be themselves without worrying about the gazes of others. According to the Japanese site, the only thing that indicates negativity in the place is the menu of food and drinks, particularly the long and strange names of some beverages offered. Some of these names include: "The only good trait of my father was that he was a serious person, but he suddenly disappeared 22 years ago, leaving behind a message saying that Pegasus (mythical winged horses) are real." Another item is named: "Yesterday, I buried the cursed Kokeshi doll deep in the mountainous forest, but when I woke up this morning, it was back on one of my room shelves."
There is also a third item that carries a pessimistic spirit, titled: "On my birthday, my mother sent me a watermelon from the village, and I didn't dare to tell her that I no longer love that fruit."
