The final statement from kings, presidents, and princes of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation during the fifteenth Islamic Summit Conference held in Banjul, Gambia, emphasized the necessity of collective efforts to confront the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression for more than six months, disregarding fundamental moral and humanitarian values.
In their statement released today, Monday, the leaders urged the world to "take action to stop the genocidal crimes committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people in Gaza and to implement the precautionary measures mandated by the International Court of Justice." They stressed the importance of all efforts to expedite humanitarian aid and rejected any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land.
The statement reaffirmed the organization's steadfast support for the Palestinian people in their struggle to attain their inalienable rights, calling on the international community to "compel the occupying authority to comply with international law and United Nations resolutions, to end its illegal occupation, and to empower the Palestinian people to realize their legitimate national rights as recognized by the international community, including the recognition of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, and to support Palestine's bid for full membership in the United Nations."
It underscored the need to "take all measures to protect the Islamic identity of Al-Quds from all unlawful actions and policies, as well as from the judaization attempts perpetrated by the occupier, and from violations of the sanctity and status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."
The leaders called for an "immediate and unconditional ceasefire and the cessation of aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza," the provision of humanitarian, medical, and relief assistance, as well as ensuring water and electricity supply and opening humanitarian corridors for urgent aid delivery to Gaza without obstacles.
