When you look at it, you might think it's one of the birds belonging to the falcon family, especially since it has the same shape and curved beak. However, as you get closer, you realize it doesn't belong to these families, raising the question in your mind: what type of bird is this? It is the "black-winged kite," a raptor that belongs to the family Accipitridae and is characterized by its unique beauty, as captured by the Jordanian photographer Hassan Rimawi through his camera lens. Rimawi was in the Central Jordan Valley when he suddenly spotted this bird in front of him, soaring like the "Eurasian sparrowhawk." The bird also resembled certain species of "merza" birds, known for their high wingbeats. "This bird is one of the most beautiful raptors I have seen in my life," he mentioned in an interview with CNN.
The "black-winged kite" is found in wide and semi-deserted areas, and it can be unpredictable in terms of where it will perch to hunt its prey. Therefore, when the Jordanian photographer published the video on his personal social media account, it garnered a lot of admiration from his followers. The black-winged kite is one of the beautiful raptors in the avian world, characterized by its stunning appearance, which features a mix of gray, black wings, and sharp, red eyes, leading many to call it the "devil bird." The bird primarily feeds on rodents such as mice, rats, and flies, typically weighing no more than 100 grams, as well as some types of small birds.
