The Russian news agency "TASS" reported today, Thursday, that "Russian and Chinese warships participated in exercises in the South China Sea this week, successfully practicing anti-submarine operations, naval combat, and air defense for vessels." The agency quoted the Russian Pacific Fleet stating that these exercises have now concluded.
Additionally, the agency reported that the naval forces of both countries carried out around 30 combat drills, including joint artillery fire on maritime, coastal, and aerial targets, as well as joint search and rescue operations at sea. The fleet stated, "The main objective is to enhance maritime cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, as well as to maintain peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region."
China and Russia announced a "no limits" partnership in 2022 when Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Beijing just days before sending thousands of troops to invade Ukraine.
