Turkey and Bahrain Welcome ICJ Decision on Rafah

Turkey and Bahrain welcomed the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) ruling on Saturday, which obliges Israel to immediately cease military operations in the Palestinian governorate of Rafah. Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the kingdom's support for the decision and reiterated its call for the international community, particularly members of the United Nations Security Council, to fulfill their responsibilities in implementing international resolutions and humanitarian law by enforcing an immediate, permanent, and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and protecting innocent civilians.

The ministry emphasized the need for increased, safe, complete, and sustainable humanitarian aid flows to the residents of the region, and for creating a secure environment to revive a just and comprehensive peace process that grants the Palestinian people their legitimate rights to establish their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution.

From his side, Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç stated that the ICJ's decision is significant in stopping bloodshed and sorrow in Palestine, but it is "insufficient." He stressed the necessity for Israel to comply with the ICJ's decisions and put an end to the war and crimes it has perpetrated against humanity, which have resulted in the deaths of approximately 36,000 Palestinians and injuries to over 80,000 in the past eight months. He underscored that "Israel must stop acting like a terrorist organization and adhere to international laws."
