Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Raï emphasized that "members of the nation’s parliament must understand that rampant political chaos and divisions can only be eliminated with the presence of a clean-handed president." In his sermon during Sunday Mass in Bkerke, Raï noted, "We thank God that Lebanon was spared a security threat by the Parliament renewing the mandate of the army and security forces," considering that "this paramount national interest avoids the deadly vacuum in military leadership and stabilizes the unity of the army to prevent any disruption within its ranks due to calls for change." He added, "How much we desire and pray for this goodwill to continue among the members of the parliamentary council so they realize that there is no state without a president."
