The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Ambassador Hani Shmeitli, placed the news circulating through media about European embassies urging their citizens to leave Lebanon "within the framework of a systematic campaign to apply psychological pressure on Lebanon." In a conversation with "Voice of Lebanon," Shmeitli explained that many countries took precautions at the beginning of the crisis; however, as weeks and months passed, operations at Beirut Airport continued normally and were not affected. Regarding Kuwait's call for its citizens to leave Lebanon, Shmeitli confirmed that it always issues guidelines and does not make calls outside the usual context. As for the dispute with Cyprus, Shmeitli announced that intensive communications are underway to resolve this issue.
