Armenia: Iraqi Man Opens Fire Inside Police Building

Armenia's interior ministry spokesperson, Narek Sarkisian, announced today that a foreign citizen opened fire last night in a police station in the Kotayk region of central Armenia. Sarkisian stated: "A foreign citizen was summoned to the Kotayk police station, and while at the police headquarters, he grabbed a firearm from one of the security officers and fired it, resulting in his injury and that of two police officers." He noted that "the internal security and anti-corruption department of the interior ministry has begun an investigation into the circumstances of the incident." The spokesperson did not reveal the nationality of the assailant, but the "Sputnik Armenia" agency confirmed that he is an Iraqi citizen.
