Less than a month before the Paris Olympics, unsafe levels of "E. Coli" bacteria have been found in the Seine River for the third consecutive week, according to testing results published on Friday. The water samples from the Seine in Paris indicate consistently higher pollution levels than the safety threshold. The Olympics are expected to feature a swimming marathon and triathlon events near the Alexandre III Bridge. Ongoing rainfall has exacerbated the issue, as rainwater infiltrates the sewage system, leading to the flow of fecal bacteria into the Seine. The report also noted that flooding of the Yonne River has increased the flooding of the Seine. Despite the persistently high pollution levels, organizers remain optimistic. Tony Estanguet, head of the Paris 2024 organizing committee, stated, "By the second half of July, things will settle down."
