Several churches in Alexandria have announced their doors will be open for high school students to study during power outages. This initiative began with Father Martius Samir from the Church of Saint Marina and Pope Kirillos VI, in an effort to address the studying challenges faced by students during the exam season amid electricity cuts. The churches that have announced their support for students include: Saint Marina and Pope Kirillos VI, the Great Angel Michael in Mostafa Kamel, the Virgin Mary on Saif Street, and Angel Raphael in Agami.
Father Martius Samir posted on his personal Facebook account about the initiative to support high school students during the exam period, coinciding with the Prime Minister's decisions regarding load shedding and increased duration of power outages. Subsequently, Father Basem Mahrous, a priest at the Church of the Great Angel Michael in Mostafa Kamel, also announced that the church would welcome high school students, stating: "Brave high school students, following the increase in power cuts and in agreement with the church fathers, it has been decided to open the St. Demiana Hall, the first hall to the right on the second floor of the service building, for studying at any time the power goes out."
