On July 7, 2023, unknown individuals entered a company in Choueifat that sells cleaning and disinfecting supplies and stole a safe containing $37,000, 200 million Lebanese pounds, promissory notes, a military rifle, and the DVR belonging to the company's cameras, before fleeing to an unknown location.
In response, the specialized units of the Internal Security Forces were tasked with conducting field and investigative procedures to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
As a result of the follow-up, it was found that the thieves arrived in a silver BMW X5 SUV, from which two robbers exited while the vehicle drove off to an unknown location.
Through extensive inquiries and investigations, the Information Branch managed to identify the members of the robbery gang, including:
- A. S. (born 1995, Lebanese)
- M. H. (born 2001, Syrian)
- J. S. (born 2008, Syrian)
- A. M. (born 1999, Lebanese)
The first individual has a criminal record with 12 judicial notices for crimes including gunfire, fraud, and embezzlement.
On July 11 and 18, 2023, after careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols arrested the first three members onboard the vehicle used in the theft in the Khalda area, while the fourth was apprehended in the Dahieh-Jammoos neighborhood.
During the investigation, they confessed to their involvement with a fifth person in the robbery of the safe from inside the company. Legal measures were taken against them, and they were detained in accordance with judicial orders, while efforts continue to apprehend the fifth accomplice.
