On Tuesday, contract faculty members from Lebanese University held a protest in front of the government palace, coinciding with a cabinet meeting. Representatives from all colleges and branches of the Lebanese University participated, displaying signs calling for justice and the approval of the job stabilization file.
After the national and university anthems, Hamid Hamid delivered a speech on behalf of the faculty, stating: "Enough is enough, as officials have abandoned their role in preserving your national university… Nearly ten years have passed since your crisis began, and those responsible for your demands remain asleep, treating you as if you were a handful with no identity or entity. May God not forgive those who sold you out, caused your suffering, and turned you into beggars for medicine or even to secure the bare minimum of life’s necessities."
He added, "As for you, officials, we did not come today to demand our legitimate rights, primarily the job stabilization file, but we came to tell you, unequivocally: you do not want to build a nation; because you have toyed with our destinies, mocked our dignity, and disregarded the fact that we are a measure of patriotism, a symbol of freedom, and the foundation that advances this nation, the ink of its pens, and its vibrant free voice."
He concluded: "Officials, our spirits are weary, our tongues are tired, and if you truly want to build this nation, approve the job stabilization file in your session today, or at the very least, add it to the agenda for the next cabinet meeting to discuss and approve it."
