Attendance at the Bahrain Summit and Absentees Among Arab Leaders

The 33rd Arab Summit kicks off today, Thursday, in the Bahraini capital, Manama, with the presence of several Arab leaders and foreign guests. The summit will discuss formulating a unified Arab position regarding the Palestinian issue and the rights of the Palestinian people, amid the ongoing war in Gaza for more than 7 months, the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, as well as matters concerning Arab joint action in political, economic, social, cultural, and security fields. The Arab League includes 22 countries, and this is the first time that Manama hosts a summit-level meeting of the Arab League Council since the regular and emergency summits began in Cairo in 1946.

Present at the Bahrain Summit are:

- President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.

- King of Jordan Abdullah II.

- President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

- President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

- President of Iraq Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid.

- Prime Minister of Lebanon Najib Mikati.

- President of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen Rashad Mohammad Al-Alimi.

- President of the Presidential Council in Libya Mohamed Younes Menfi.

- President of the Comoros Islands Ghazali Osman.

- Prime Minister of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre.

- President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh.

- Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

- Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

- Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Absent from the summit are:

- President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune, represented by Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.

- King of Morocco Mohammed VI, represented by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.

- Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq, represented by Deputy Prime Minister Asaad Al Said.

- Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, represented by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah.

- President of Tunisia Kais Saied, represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Ammar.

- President of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Zayed, represented by Vice President and Prime Minister, Dubai Ruler Mohammed bin Rashid.
