On June 6, 2024, the Regional Anti-Drug Office in Zahle destroyed a quantity of prohibited materials based on the directive of the relevant judiciary. The event was attended by the following officials: the Public Prosecutor in the Bekaa, Judge Munif Barakat; Head of the General Crime Investigation Department, Brigadier General Eli Kallas; Head of the Central Anti-Drug Office, Major Ayman Mashmoushi; Head of the Regional Anti-Drug Office in Bekaa, Major Elias Shalhoub; Captain Qassem Safwan, an officer from the Public Relations Division; Head of the Cassation Public Prosecution Office, Charles Abu Khair; and several officers and non-commissioned officers from the office.
The following quantities of drugs were destroyed:
- 10,381,184 Captagon pills
- 29,409 kg of cocaine
- Approximately 2.5 tons of hashish
- 332 kg of hashish seeds
- 15,177 kg of marijuana
- 33,928 kg of non-narcotic powder
- 400 liters of liquid materials used in drug manufacturing
- 3,127 assorted narcotic pills.
