The Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement today, Tuesday: "As a result of the security measures implemented by army units across various regions of Lebanon during May 2024, 544 individuals of different nationalities were arrested for involvement in various crimes and offenses, including drug trafficking, theft, smuggling, possession of weapons and prohibited items, and wandering within Lebanese territory without legal residency, as well as driving vehicles and motorcycles without legal documentation. The seizures included 38 war weapons of different types, 13 hand grenades, quantities of light and medium ammunition, several vehicles and motorcycles, in addition to a quantity of drugs and several communication devices and surveillance cameras. Attempts by around 1,100 Syrians to illegally cross the Lebanese-Syrian border were also thwarted. The arrested individuals, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the relevant authorities for necessary action."
