Outbreak of a Deadly Disease in the United States

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced an outbreak of Listeriosis, also known as circulatory disease, in 12 states simultaneously. The statement noted that "two people have died from the disease, and 28 others have been hospitalized." The statement further highlighted that "the actual number of infections may be higher. According to reports, most of the infected individuals consumed meat products, including mortadella and sausages, but it has not yet been confirmed that this is the actual cause." It is worth mentioning that the infection causing this disease is transmitted to humans by consuming foods contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (vegetables and animal products), which cause severe gastrointestinal disturbances, affect the nervous system, and can lead to meningitis, encephalitis, and death. Individuals over the age of 60, pregnant women, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems are considered at higher risk.
