Lavrov's Envoy Meets Berri and Mikati, Calls for Restraint

The Prime Minister of the caretaker government, Najib Mikati, met with the special envoy of the Russian Foreign Minister to Lebanon, Vladimir Safronkov. During the meeting, they discussed the situation in southern Lebanon and Gaza, as well as the stalled peace process. The Russian envoy emphasized the need for all parties to exercise restraint in preparation for revitalizing the peace process. He noted that his visit to Lebanon is part of a tour in the region and affirmed the strong ties between Lebanon and Russia, highlighting the importance of strengthening and developing these relations in all fields. Speaker of the House Nabih Berri received Vladimir Safronkov and his accompanying delegation at the second presidential office in Ain al-Tineh, in the presence of Berri's media advisor, Ali Hamdan, where they reviewed the general conditions in Lebanon and the region in light of Israel's continued aggression against Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
