Jumblatt Talks About the Zero Point.. and What Klaus Said

Former MP Walid Jumblatt viewed the presidential crisis in Lebanon as having returned to a zero point, holding responsible those who "play with the Lebanese" and "fuel the ridiculous theories of those wanting a vacuum." Jumblatt's remarks came in response to a question posed by the newspaper "L'Orient-Le Jour" regarding whether the presidential file has indeed returned to square one. He answered: "Yes," considering the results of the recent meeting of the quintet in New York to be mere "play with the Lebanese," marking the beginning of the marginalization of the mission of the French envoy to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Le Drian, and thus a leap into the unknown. He stated: "My personal impression is that some members of this quintet are undermining Mr. Le Drian's mission, resulting in the quintet becoming a quartet." He added: "Let Saudi Arabia explain to us what it wants, because the situation has reached an unacceptable and blatant level. There are those who are playing with the Lebanese, and this fuels the ridiculous theories of those wanting a vacuum."

On another note, Jumblatt received the Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Dorothy Klaus, at his office in Clemenceau, in the presence of the party's Vice President Zahir Raad and the head of the Economic and Social Development Office, Dr. Wiam Abu Hamdan, where they discussed the general conditions and the commission's work amid recent developments. He also received the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon, Ivo Freijsen, with Raad and Abu Hamdan present, and during the meeting, they discussed general conditions and the affairs of Syrian displaced persons in Lebanon and the commission's missions.
