Iraq is set to experience a severe heat wave tomorrow, which will also affect several Gulf countries. The Iraqi Meteorological Authority predicted today, Wednesday, the weather conditions for the coming days, indicating that eight provinces will reach temperatures around 50 degrees Celsius tomorrow. The temperature is expected to peak at 51 degrees Celsius in Dhi Qar, Al-Muthanna, and Najaf, while Basra, Maysan, Karbala, Wasit, and Diwaniya will see temperatures around 50 degrees Celsius.
The Iraqi Ministry of Environment has issued a set of important guidelines to prevent skin dryness and sunburn during the hot days. These include wearing light-colored, lightweight clothing that adequately covers the body, using high-SPF sunscreen, avoiding direct sunlight during midday, drinking sufficient water to stay hydrated, refraining from going outside during the hottest parts of the day, and wearing sunglasses, hats, and carrying umbrellas.
The ministry also urged against wasting water and electricity, as this waste can harm and create shortages for others, and emphasized the importance of increasing trees and sustainable green spaces.
