The Israeli army announced today, Friday, the death of a senior Hamas security leader in an airstrike in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip. Israeli army spokesperson Avichai Adraee stated via his account on the platform "X" that Israeli airstrikes killed Salma Muhammad Abu Ajaaj yesterday, who is a senior leader of Hamas's Internal Security Service in the Rafah area.
Adraee mentioned that the Internal Security Service acts as a cover for Hamas's military wing and is responsible for several central tasks related to ensuring the organization's survival, its routine military management, and attempting to disrupt the operations of the Defense Forces in the area, according to his claims.
He pointed out that Ajaaj worked on the continued positioning and military enhancement of Hamas in Rafah. Meanwhile, Hamas has neither confirmed nor denied this report.
Additionally, he stated that according to reports, Eyad Al-Maghari, the mayor of North Al-Nuseirat, was also killed in the airstrike. Al-Maghari previously worked in his capacity within the West Bank office of Hamas and played a central role in directing attacks in the West Bank.
