Eight people, including three children, were killed as a result of airstrikes carried out by Islamabad on Afghan border areas, according to a spokesperson for the Taliban. Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman who governs in Kabul, stated, "Around three in the morning (22:30 GMT on Sunday), Pakistani planes bombed residential homes" in the border provinces of Khost and Paktika. Mujahid noted that the eight fatalities included women and children. Security officials indicated that Pakistani airstrikes targeted believed hideouts of the Pakistani Taliban within Afghanistan early on Monday. This follows two days after seven soldiers were killed in a suicide bombing and coordinated attacks in the northwest of the country.
