Argentine President Javier Milei was en route in a convoy of cars to attend a summit on Friday at 10 a.m. with ambassadors and representatives from 19 Islamic countries who had agreed with the Argentine Foreign Ministry to meet him at the "Islamic Cultural Center" in the upscale Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. When he was just two buildings away from the meeting location, Milei, who is passionate about the Jewish religion, learned that the representative of Palestine in Argentina, Riad Al-Halabi, was among those scheduled to meet with him, prompting him to cancel the meeting and return to the presidential palace, leaving his foreign minister to stand in for him, according to the well-known economic newspaper Ámbito Financiero. The newspaper reminded its readers of Milei's bias toward Israel since the beginning of his term, noting that he visited Israel last February and appeared in a "YouTube" video crying on the shoulder of a rabbi at the Western Wall, despite being a Catholic and not a Jew.
